Job Description

The Hydro Digital Predictive Monitoring & Project Engineer will join the Digital Hydro organization, operating in a start-up environment to develop, pilot, and deploy new Proof of Concepts (POC) and scalable digital solutions.

Our Digital Hydro team connects hydro power plant equipment, analyzes data, and provides actionable recommendations to:
✔ Reduce costs
✔ Mitigate equipment failure risks
✔ Increase revenue
✔ Improve operational flexibility

The Remote Monitoring & Diagnostic (rM&D) Team uses data from diverse sources (direct plant connections or lab measurements) to develop models and algorithms. These solutions support predictive maintenance and operational improvements for Hydroelectric assets.


Key Responsibilities

1. Digital Solution Deployment & IT Architecture

  • Define system IT architecture (SCADA, Historian, OSISoft PI, etc.)
  • Deploy digital solutions to stream data to GE’s cloud platform
  • Perform sensor gap assessments at sites and recommend missing sensors
  • Set up remote connectivity from the plant to GE’s cloud platform

2. Predictive Monitoring & Data Analytics

  • Analyze Hydroelectric power plant data to derive insights and operational recommendations
  • Utilize GE Machine Learning software (APM Reliability, SmartSignal) for anomaly detection and incipient failure prediction
  • Coordinate with Hydro equipment experts for in-depth technical analysis

3. Customer Engagement & Reporting

  • Represent the Hydro Service and Digital Team in customer interactions
  • Present machine performance analysis and insights to customers during weekly/monthly reviews
  • Support tendering activities with product presentations and demos
  • Provide rM&D services to customers across Asia, Middle East, and Europe

4. On-Site Support & Collaboration

  • Travel occasionally to hydropower plants for on-site support
  • Collaborate with Hydro Services control system teams

Qualifications & Skills

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Engineering
✔ Experience in Hydropower plant processes & equipment (Turbine, Generator, Auxiliaries, Instrumentation)
✔ Knowledge of SCADA systems, PLCs, HMI design, Modbus communication, OSISoft PI
✔ Expertise in SQL scripting, database management, and industrial server software
✔ Strong instrumentation and sensor knowledge
✔ Fluent in written and spoken English
High autonomy and self-starter mindset
