About the Team – Fulfillment Optimization

The Fulfillment Optimization team plays a critical role in determining how customer orders are fulfilled — balancing customer satisfaction and Wayfair’s operational profitability.

We build and enhance customer-facing platforms that deliver accurate fulfillment data across the entire shopping journey — from product search and checkout to delivery. This involves:

• Modeling our dynamic supply chain in real-time

• Calculating product box dimensions and delivery routes

• Surfacing key fulfillment info for customers, suppliers, and carriers

• Operating at scale — delivering intelligent results in milliseconds, thousands of times per second

What You’ll Do

• Design and Deliver Scalable Solutions: Tackle complex backend engineering challenges and build reliable, performant systems.

• Own Systems Development: Build robust, well-tested services and application-level tools in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

• Collaborate Cross-functionally: Work closely with Product Managers and Engineering Leadership to influence roadmaps and drive platform improvements.

• Code Review and Mentorship: Participate in peer design/code reviews and ensure engineering best practices across the team.

• Innovate with Impact: Identify platform enhancement opportunities and contribute to technical strategies.

What You’ll Need

• 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience designing and building scalable systems.

• Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, and SQL.

• Experience building cloud-native applications using GCP, AWS, or Azure.

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Buildkite, Jenkins, etc.

• Proficiency in monitoring/logging tools such as DataDog, Elasticsearch, etc.

• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and optimization skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proven ability to collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders.
