Job Description
The IT Center Assurance Senior Analyst will support United’s Chicago headquarters by performing testing of Information Technology General Controls (ITGCs) as part of the IT Center Assurance program. This role will involve coordinating data analysis and smart automation to streamline control testing and ensure proper internal controls are in place to protect company assets and maintain compliance. Additionally, this role will assist with the delivery of audit projects, including audits, alerts, and initiatives when needed.
Responsibilities
Program Development:
- Support the development, rollout, and operationalization of the IT Center Assurance program.
- Apply improvements and automation to the reading and testing processes, ensuring a data-first approach with 100% testing coverage.
- Engage with stakeholders to better understand their business and processes, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.
Risk Assessment, Testing Plan, and Methodology:
- Support continuous risk assessments to define in-scope and out-of-scope areas, including processes and controls within the UAL IT environment.
- Assist in the development of a common testing plan, updating scope quarterly and annually.
- Assess testing approaches and integrate improvements, adopting a continuous improvement mindset.
IT Control Assessment:
- Perform and document IT testing under the supervision of the IT Center Assurance Manager or SOX Manager.
- Lead IT process walkthroughs and document audit procedures performed.
- Gather, review, and analyze data related to IT systems and functions pertinent to IT Center Assurance testing scope.
- Demonstrate project management skills by utilizing available tools and technology, escalating project management issues when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with U.S. management to clarify complex requirements and follow up as needed.
- Plan, organize, direct, and report on audits/surveys in accordance with Internal Audit and IPPF Standards.
- Participate in report writing and recommend remediation plans for identified risks through collaboration with stakeholders.
- Support the delivery of internal audit projects, including reviews, alerts, and initiatives on an as-needed basis.
Data Analysis, Automation, and Intelligent Automation:
- Analyze processes and controls to understand potential value streams and suggest recommendations to eliminate waste and improve activities.
- Identify opportunities to replace manual or inefficient tasks with automation.
- Assist in implementing solutions for business problems using data analysis and visualization tools.
- Design and support automated dashboards to visualize testing results and findings.
Qualifications
Required:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in IT Audit or a related field.
- Skills:
- Experience in testing internal controls around financial and IT general controls (ITGCs).
- Knowledge and experience in applying auditing standards and practices for IT against common risk and control frameworks such as NIST 800-53, COBIT.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated collaboration abilities.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to report and communicate control deficiencies clearly and effectively.
- Ability to accommodate U.S. work hours when required.
- Willingness to travel globally as needed.
- Legally authorized to work in India without sponsorship.
Preferred:
- Education: Master’s Degree.
- Certifications: CISA certification or similar.
- Industry Experience: Direct experience in the transportation/aerospace industries.
- Technical Skills:
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Spotfire, Power BI, Alteryx, Python (including Pandas and Jupyter), Power Query.
- Knowledge of applying data analysis to audit projects.
- Familiarity with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
